What’s it like to live?

How do you know that you are alive?

Is it when you feel good or when you feel pain?

Is it when you look into a child’s eyes and see a moment of enlightenment?

Is it when you feel at one with someone else or with nature or God?

What makes you feel alive?

What shatters this “illusion” of life for you to bring you back to your reality?

I feel alive when I take risks.

I feel alive when I love, when I travel, when I express and when I find something I am passionate about.

Oh and when grief strikes as well. Or any hardships, really.

Nothing really shatters my “illusion” of life for I will be living until the day I die.

I feel alive every day when I try to drag these old bones out of bed…makes it so that I’m painfully aware of my body.

Sorry…JK

I feel alive every single day. No matter if I’m sad or happy; in touch with nature/my kids/or God….

I can feel it the most when I’m outside in the sunshine and the wind is blowing. When I’m watching my kids play. When I have an “aha” moment with being able to figure something out at school. When I see kids have an “aha” moment. When I run. When I laugh. When I am able to walk to the mailbox or the park. When I wake up every day and see the sun and then see the sunset that same day. When I pray and Thank God for my family; and when I have my kids pray, too.

I also feel alive when I’m hurt or crying. When someone hurts my feelings. When someone blows me off. When someone just won’t listen to my opinions or tears or laughter or ideas. When someone I love is sick. When I go to a funeral.

I can so relate to this, except the funeral part, I do not do funerals……. not well anyway :(

I totally agree. Sometimes I lose sight of the wonderful things in life, (which most of the time are so simple). Like walking in the rain, or as you say listening to the ocean. It can be easy to lose sight of what is really important and beautiful.
