what do i do when it seems like i am the only one who cares for the welbeing of my stepson?

He lives with his maternal grandparents bc the mother is dead and the father (my hubby) is to afraid to do anything for fear of losing him….
Everyone involved knows whats best and thats with us (stable mother/father home with siblings not with grandparents and aunts/uncles) and yet greed is stoping them.

Awww, I hate these posts that are about kids in worse than perfect situations…

I think that if everyone knows what is best for him, you need to remind ppl that they are taking actions (letting him live with you) for HIS benefit; and if they TRULY DO love him, they will find it in their hearts to do what is best for him.

Of course, you have to reassure your husband that he most likely won’t lose him

And you have to tell the maternal grandparents that they will see him regulary, maybe even weekend sleepovers. It must be terribly hard for them; having lost their daughter…

Finally, how do you KNOW that YOUR idea of where he would be happiest is, in fact, the best? You may also need to look into your heart and think of ALL AVENUES of his well being (not just the fact that he will be with a parent aged couple and siblings….) Older ppl are just as competent to raise children as younger ppl are; and they CAN be “PARENTS” for all intents and purposes. Finally, having siblings is also not the most desirable thing in childhood…siblings are a nice thing to have (usually) but there are other things that are just as important

Strange that the grandparents got custody of your husband’s son… how did that happen?
