My sister’s keeper- the movie had a different ending!

If anyone HASN’T seen the movie yet. i would suggest not reading this post! spoiler alert..!

I read the book a while ago: possibly one of the best books i’ve read. I just came back from watching the movie, and the ending was ridiculously different. I think it changed the whole “moral” of the story…

Anyone else care to share their views? :)

Oh I know!! That’s one of my favourite books and when I saw the movie, it destroyed my views.
Of course it was a tear jerker, but it wasn’t like the book!!

They left out her court appointed guardian Julia, Anna’s close relationship with her father, they didn’t go into Jesse’s situation as much, Campbells love interest, De Salvo is a man in the book, Brians fascination with stars, Campbell and julia, and not to mention the ending.

It was sad, but it wasn’t the same. at all. And now it’s getting more popular because of the movie and a whole bunch of 13 year old girls are reading the book because they saw the movie, I mean that’s good for Piccoult, but not for everyone else who read it years before the movie.

I love to read Jodi Picoult books.
You haven’t spoilt the ending for me as I would not consider watching it. I learnt that lesson after reading Flowers in the attic by Virgina Andrews and then watching the movie.
I truely hate it when Hollywood changes or removes fundemental moments that an author has painstakingly decided to add.

Yeah, because once Picoult signed the papers saying they can legally make it a movie, her approval, then she has no say in how it turns out.
I read in an interview that she was upset about it yet there was nothing she could do.
I mean, i’d be upset, that completely turned the movie around and gave it a whole new spin on what people will think the books like.

Imagine how devastated all those 13 year old girls are going to be if they read the book second.
My mum wants to see the movie but I posted her the book instead.

I enjoyed the movie… but the ending was so clichéd. The family going on holiday (probably to montana - kate’s favourite place. [was this mentioned in the book? i don’t remember]) and they live happily ever after. It was quite blunt.
The book just seemed to have more of a story. They lived through all that hardship, and then the trouble with having to go to court, and then a cruel- but interesting twist of fate at the end.
The movie just changed the whole “feel” of the story. It’s a shame.

I feel a bit sorry for Jodi Picoult. It must have been exciting to know her book would be made into a movie. But she must have been devastated that the ending was changed!

I’d recommend just reading the book…
but if you’re tempted to see the movie… just leave before the end, to avoid disappointment. :)

Yeah, they didn’t mention that in the book, I don’t think.

Yeah, I thought that way too :/
