Help help: why do we need help? - Help.com

why do we need help?

i noticed that since i started using help.com, i spend less time doing thinking with myself,
whenever something troubled me, i just posted it here, waiting for feedback.
but, it is just being the easy way around,
i’m sure that by asking ourselves the same questions we post, if we think enough about it, we can get to the same conclusions, if we are being true to ourselves, that is.

on the short run, it’s a bliss.
when you’re stuck in the corner and can’t get out of the loop,
there is always someone here to see things from an objective perspective for you…

on the long run, however, we stop training ourselves in getting out of loops.
we depend too much on people giving us objective opinions, thus stop trying to look objectively on things.

it takes a lot of mental strength and training to do these on your own, but to my opinion, it is worth the while.

wanted to share this with you, make of it whatever you wish.

Well said. It’s always helpful to get others opinions, but its important to try to handle them on your own as well. Think of it this way, how would you be able to cope when your on your own and have no one to help you?

Most people don’t like feeling pain though. Yeah, it is easier this way, and that’s ok. I don’t think I think about my problems any less…I just get some support from here. That’s what we need sometimes.

I overthink things allot, so having another perspective can be really helpful.

I hardly ever post. So I really don’t connect with what you’re saying. I just like to be here and be silly and annoying. That does not require too much thinking on my part.

thinking of ur own problem is trying to see a black spot on ur head, you just wont see it unless you use a mirror, so if you dont own a mirror and are having a hard time to find one, you just ask a friend to tell you where that black spot is… ^_^

Is this like asking someone “does this look infected to you?”

From my 2 years here, it has taught me so so much, the most important is a problem shared is a problem halved, all the advice in the world is worth nothing if you dont put it into actions, so I dont think it is lazy to get a small amount of guidence when things are getting you down

i’ve been here over 2 years and only posted 3 times.

applying problem solving to other people’s problems helps me put my own into perspective. it also forces me to think about people around me in a different way which is good… they could just as easily be help.com posters and i shouldn’t objectify them.
