i totally have the answer:
if you are religouse and beleive in a Creator: chicken.
if you (like me) have a more scientific mind, its the egg. and the egg has been around far longer than the chicken, dating past the dino’s.

ooh, clever! well my dears we have our answer. egg it is!!!
I say from a dinosaur egg … because according to some scientific studies thats where all birds came from (dinosaurs that is )

so chickens are descendants of dinos???
Egg, because even if you are religious in some way that would make you disregard science, you could always say that God made an egg first in order to hatch the chicken. The egg had to be there for the chicken to be there and healthy.
the egg because the chicken had to come from somewhere and maybe the chicken is a mix of several things..so yeah the egg….
Its obviously the eggg, i cant believe this is one of those unsolvavlbe questions. Two species mated and laid an egg. a chicken popped out. der.
oh and ….

well not everything thats being a little over zealous…. but many many things yes

this can not be possible the egg had to come from somewhere and the chicken would have mated with something and then it wouldn’t have been a chicken offspring it would have been like something completely crazy and yeah so it couldn’t happen that way the egg had to come first..to produce the chicken..
I say as both a scientific and religious mind, the egg. I have no idea why I think it’s the egg, call it a hunch, lol.
so if most of us say it is the egg… why people keep going on the chicken??
its the chicken.
god placed animals on the earth.
he put chickens here and then they laid eggs.

non. dino’s laid eggs and from them came birds, and from birds came new species of birds, aka the chicken.

huummm that makes a lot of sense.

well either way, it wasnt the egg
do you REALLY think that there is one specific god out there who placed a chicken just like that? I mean no offence, i believe that there is something bigger than us but, it is just something that makes nonsense.

i agree. you actually dont beleive in evolution? how do you think you are able to use this site? HUMANS built it because of…. OPPOSABLE THUMBS. WHICH WE GOT FROM BILLIONS OF YEARS OF EVOLUTION. honestly hon, do some reasearch on the ulrey and miller expearament, it explains how the first cells evolved from nil.

yes i believe in god.
im not saying he just put a chicken here. i just mean that the animals were first and they laid eggs and chickens eventually evolved somehow

so then the eggs came first. like you said, animals laid EGGS, then the CHICKENS evolved. yay! we’re all in agreement!

it’s not about a chicken!!! it’s a saying! it’s asking what came first, the animal or the ‘egg’… u guys even keep saying, so animals came first and laid eggs, then chickens came LOL…
i still say “chicken”.
oooh, i see your point. but remember that we’re not asking if animals came first than eggs, the dilemma is with the chicken itself x)
btw thx for sharing :D
People are knda thick… The questions isn’t about any egg besides a modern day chicken egg. It applies to what came first, an organism, or the process by which the animal was itself created, a process that occurs when the animal itself initiates the process. It’s cyclical.
The answer is neither. billions of years ago life came from electrical impulses in the right place at the right time. From then on, it was a chain reaction. To relate this to the chicken, the egg was first because past generations of “not quite chickens” produced eggs closer and closer to that of a modern day chicken, and then, one egg contained what we know as a modern day chicken.
I hope this solves your problem.
Egg is one cell, chicken is multiple… egg had to come first. NikAngelo sums it up:

let me tell you a story about a man named Urey, and his friend, Miller.
in their most famous experament,
(see http://bill.srnr.arizona.edu/classes/… )
U&M peiced together ealistic pre-life environments that are proven to have existed, using the first elements, condensation, scaled lightning storms and ultra-violet light, they made a sludgy substance. this sludge was built up of protein and DNA, and from this was born: the cell. cells are eggs. the end. this experament has been proven and reproven and is the basis of our knowledge of life.
