I spent the last 3 days of my moms life in a hospital room watching her slip away, fighting sleep ,thinking she would get better. On the third evening when I could no longer fight the sleep, I fell asleep in a chair, only to be awoken the next morning by a nurse, and being told she had passed away. Funny, I was in the mind frame if I only stayed awake watching her she would not die.

My warmest respect to you Nogifts, that’s an amazing gift you where able to give.

I was with my gran on her last day, and was there on my mums 2nd last. But the last was too much and I found myself driving winding roads miles away. Still not pleased about that, but glad that my sister was stronger and there for her.

thanks for sharing your story. Life’s a strange one, thats for sure.

I used to be a nurse on the palliative care unit, i have seen soo many ppl die, it doesnt get easier, i had 1 of my favourite patients die in my arms, she looked into my eyes & begged me to help her, everything that could be done had been, she was terminal, this was about 5 yrs ago but i havent forgot a single detail about that night & i doubt i ever will do.

I remember the nurses in the hospice, they still seem like almost superheros to me.
