Im 16, 172.5cm tall and 56.5Kg

I feel really unhappy with the way i look and want to lose some weight….

I used to do no exercise and eat all the bad foods until i realized how unhealthy it was i know im not fat, but i still want to be thinner.

I do a reasonable amount of exercise on a daily basis, usually 30 minutes of hard exercise, plus walking and daily activities. i don’t eat junk food or soft drinks and only treat myself occasionally. I don’t understand why nothing is happening, I’ve been keeping up my healthiness for nearly 6 months and haven’t lost any weight and still have a lot of fat. Can someone please help?

You realise that if you lose more than a couple of kilos you’ll technically be underweight, right?

You know, there is a whole lot more that makes up the “wonderfullness that is you” than your weight and height.

Please take the time to list those qualities out that you are proud of and it may help you gain perspective on the weight issue.

Also, I would suggest you examine what the reason is that you are so distraught about your weight. Something may be bothering you that is not related to your size at all.

Your comment about hating yourself concerns me. There is much of you to love, I hope you find out what those things are and it helps. :)

I know my weight isn’t important…its just i want to feel good about myself like i used to. i don’t want to go and lose half my body i just want to be thin and attractive…and i dont know how to go about it. its not the weight so much that is bothering me…its the fact i have big thighs and hips that i cant seem to get rid of no matter how hard i work and try.

If u want to feel good about yourself i suggest u talk to someone like a counsellor. Your already dangerously close to being underweight,as your BMI is under 19.

There is a reason why it’s classified as underweight, because its unhealthy and brings with it just as many health problems as being in the overweight category. You have fat around your hips and thighs because that is were it is stored in women. Which btw is not a bad thing, cause it makes women look like women! With men the fat is primarily stored around the stomach! so u guys are lucky ;).

The reason ur weight is not changing, is because that is (around) your bodies ideal weight and it is incredibly hard to alter this long term. You should be happy that this ‘ideal weight’ for you is obviously quite low. But if ur not then u might need to talk to someone about your body image.
