happiness help: My happiness rarely seems to include other people, though I - Help.com

My happiness rarely seems to include other people,

though I have a best friend, a close relationship with one of my three brothers, and a couple golf buddies. Most often I am happy out in nature by myself.

My unhappiness almost always includes other people.

I am starting to avoid people as a result.

This is not working well.

Suggestions? Thoughts?

You sound just like me. I’m a loner. I like to be by myself and I am happiest when I am alone. I like it like that.

I am often happy to be by myself, but social and business success elude me - perhaps for the same reason.

Sounds as though you need to weigh out which is most important to you and choose what it is you want to do from there. If you are happy, as they say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

There always remains the opportunity to balance these things regardless. In the end though I believe so long as we are happy with ourselves, the rest doesn’t seem to be all that troubling.

You could take a chance and try dipping your toe in the social pond for a bit again, you don’t know unless you give it a go. When there are others involved, it’s always a gamble. Sometimes we win. :)
