Can’t study, am really stressed!

! I have repeat exams coming up in a few weeks for college, but am finding it impossible to study. It’s been so long since I looked at any of the material it almost seems foreign to me! Any ideas?

Lock yourself up in room with the curtains drawn and only the light you need to study without being able to look outside so the nice day outside does not draw you out and concentrate ONLY in studying. That’s what I do because it’s so nice here where I live that sometimes I find it impossible to study and stay indoors.

Ha thanks but I’ve no desire to go out…it’s constantly raining! I can’t seem to find a place to start!

Hi,

Number 1 - don’t panic! Tell yourself you are going to study enough to get through and you will pass these exams, so don’t worry or put yourself down.

I’d say your best bet is to get a quiet space in the house and some time to yourself to focus your mind. Then look at the exams you have coming up and write down on paper a list of things you absolutely have to do to pass the exam. There’s always an endless amount you could do, but often times you actually just need to find the focus to get through the essentials. Then draw up a study plan of how many days you have between now and then and what you are going to do each day. Start with 15-20 mins on day 1 and then 30 mins and so on… until after a week you will be doing a few hours per day. Try to get up in the morning to do that then reward yourself by going out or doing something fun in the afternoon or evening which you can relax and enjoy because you know you’ve done some work. Look for summaries/key points rather than trying to read whole chapters, often that can be a waste of time.

And remember this is a temporary period of a few weeks then they’ll be over with so it’s worth putting forth a little effort at the moment.

They are all over the place. Also they stop at a certain point and so I’ve only half the amount of notes I should have. Basically I didn’t go to as many lectures as I should have. Yes, it’s my own fault but now I’m trying to make up for it.

Well, if that’s the case. Start reading the chapters and get your highlighter ready.
