Looking for any avid cyclists with training tips for a new cyclist who wants to do a 13 mile leg in a team “trathlon” in 6 weeks.

now im far from a pro but my advise to you would be:
1 - try getting a set diet ( dont really know if these help or not)
2 - go out on regular rides, slowly increasing your speed, cornering abilities, and have an veried track where some hills are harder than others as these elp to build you up and make biking on falt ground much easier.
3 - practise daily
4 - when you go on your rides make sure that it is with you team, and that incudes each one off you so you learn to work to gether and then you can try to work out a solution to any weak parts like cornering or speed

We are entering a short “trathlon” as a team. A friend will be swimming, my son will run and I will be biking. So I am stuck by myself except for cross training days.
I really do need to work on my speed and cornering, it’s a bit harder than I remember, especially with those narrow tires lol.
narrow tyres are actually just as easy if not better than thick ones but then thick ones tend to give more stability and i find they offer a sharper cornering capability as they enable you to lean over more due to the fact you can bike one the corner of the tread (where it joins the side wall )but it depends on the race restrictions and the course , my only other advise is if it is a:
gental sweeping bends or straight smoothe run on concrete or tarmack then i would use the thinest tyres you can possibly buy
mid - sharp bends or slightly uneven ground / surface with loose material on the top id recommend the thick tyres as they might slip on bends with a loose surface but they would offer most stability
yeah, the tires I have are so narrow and the 80 pounds of pressure allows very little room for error.
They blow very easily from what I hear.

are yes they are liable to blow but its great fun, i once blew the side wall out on my thick tyres which were on my mountain bike which decided to pin me down in the middle of the road still good fun tho soo good luck but im affraid i have no more advise to give other than try different tyre pressurs to see what is best suited to you
