Should i tell him yet?

my ex and i broke up about 6 months ago and since then i have been seeing someone. I’m 30 with 3 children 2 are his. My new boyfriend and i would like to live together next spring but what is putting a hold on it is telling the ex that Iam with someone and eventually telling him, after that sits that we would like to live together. What is a good time to let someone know that you have moved on and that you are with someone else?

Now. Make sure they’re not drinking or on drugs when you tell them.

I agree. Go ahead and tell him. It’s been half a year. It will be fine.

Firstly, I wouldn’t rush into anything serious with this new guy, especially living with him, more for the sake of your children than yourself. My mother was with a lot of guys when I was a child and I personally found it quite uprooting making attachments to someone and losing them. Take it slow with this guy as rushing intimacy just shows that you are trying to replace something that you’ve lost. If you are reluctant to tell your ex about your new relationship this is probably the case, I would perhaps try and rebuild this relationship, if is too far gone however, perhaps try to focus on comforting your children as this time will be difficult for them.

great advice. i will not move in with my new boyfriend until spring for the reason of it maybe not working. my children have met my new bf and like him a lot. but i feel that since i have let the kids meet him that i should tell him that iam with someone. i now at this point will not move in with someone until i know that they are “the one” which i do feel but i think giving it about 9 months would be a good idea.

but you should still tell ur ex as early as possible…you want to keep things civil between you two for your kids sake, and not telling him might fire something up.

It’s hard to tell someone that yes your time is over together and that you are in love with someone else. I applaud your honesty and most of all your caring for the man you are leaving behind. He should appreciate the fine woman you are. Wish him well in finding someone that will love him and care about him and bring all the wonders of love into his life.

i really do wish him the best. i look forward to the day that he meets someone. i think he is an excellent person just not the person for me. i care about his feelings and i want him to be okay with the decisions that i make for the children. He and i had our bad times but i have moved on and found someone that makes me feel so good and appreciated and it’s not to say that someone will feel that way about him it just wasn’t me.
