I just turned 16 yesterday and I’m thinking about getting an emancipation when I turn 17.

I have a full time job and will be finishing highschool at the age of 16 in 2010. I have 2 younger sisters and 1 younger brother. If I get emancipated could child services take them away?

My dad is mentally abusive torward me and I don’t know weather I can take it here much longer. My mom is a good mother but she allows him to say everything he says and does to me. But if I go and try to get emancipated will something hppen to my siblings?

He calls me ALOT of names and he doesn’t let me go anywhere or let me do anything and trust me it’s nothing and he has bipolar disorder and he yells and screams at my mom and has hit her atleast 5 times and holds my brother up against the wall and chokes him and just stuff like that.

That is not abuse. The other stuff you wrote is more serious, but since the only thing you say he does to you is restrict your activities, it does not sound like you are being abused. Maybe your other family members.

You say your brother and mother are being physically abused but you want to make sure that your Dad can stay with them. But you want to “get out” because your Dad won’t let you stay out past mid-night?

I think, perhaps, you have your priorities screwed up.

No like I said I can’t go anywhere anytime of the day. I’m begining to hit depression because I can’t talk to anyone…I can’t see anyone. My brother is fine staying here. He is only 1 yr younger and much stronger than I am. I am a weak person and I know I am. And my mom has a choice to leave but she chooses not to. I guess you have to be in my shoes to understan that I’m not be selfish and my priorities arnt screwed up.
