health help: I am a 5′4′’ mid twenties female and within a year I went from 108lbs to 97lbs. - Help.com

I am a 5′4′’ mid twenties female and within a year I went from 108lbs to 97lbs.

Is that normal??? Thats like losing 10% of your weight. I’ve always been small (under BMI) and my metabolism is fast. I look proportionate (with fat where it should be on a girl) and I have normal periods. Just wondering when/if the weight loss should be concerning.

You should take a trip to the doctor and do some precautionary tests.

Hve you changed what you eat or are more active? Even if you’re a little more active every day that extra amount of activity adds up in a year.

I’m 5′11″ and my weight is always randomly changing between 105lbs and 126lbs… I don’t really take any notice of it :P if something isn’t hurting then why should you care about it.

True. With something like this, if something were wrong, we wouldn’t be able to tell you, not really.

But, something may not be wrong at all. But, make sure of this, see your doctor.

Being underweight is more harmful to your health than being overweight.

Yeah, I keep hearing of more and more research that proves that point. I totally believe it, y’know?

its only really unhealthy if you lose that amount of weight in a short time, like a month or so. however if you are petite and your bmi is consistently below what it should be, you should consider putting on some weight, especially if you’re looking to conceive. i’m no medical expert (by any stretch of the imagination!) but if your periods are normal you should have a good chance on conceiving.
good luck!
