heart help: I have been having chest pains since December. - Help.com

I have been having chest pains since December.

Here are some of my sypmtoms.

1. My heart will beat really fast at random points throughout the day, even if I’m just sitting down.
2. At that point my heart will get tenser with each pulse. I will also feel a sharp pain run though my chest.
3. The pain runs from the heart to the upper part of the left side of my chest.

I have factored in my extreme stress since December, but my stress level has gone down a lot in the past month. I don’t see a problem there anymore because of it. I have unhealthy eating habits which have given me bad acid reflux. That could be a probability.

If anyone has any other suggestions please help. I don’t have enough money for insurance so I can’t see a doctor about this. You guys are probably the best medical help I have as of right now.

it could be heart burn, but that usually occurs after eating. from what you say it is unlikely that that is what it is. you say your heart beats really fast at random points of the day, is there anything you do before this happens? how long do the chest pains last for? is there any history of heart problems or respiratory problems within your family?

There are no history of heart problems or respiratory problems in my family.
Most of the time I am doing nothing when my heart starts to beat really fast.
I could be sitting down watching TV for an hour and then it happens.
Though the pains will be more intense after going for a walk or exercising in general.
The pains can last for a few minutes or a few hours.

I’m an average build. I way 165 pounds. I don’t exercise much sense school let out, but since the past week I have started going for walks and doing sit ups etc. I smoke once every two or three months. I started around late December. My eating habits persist of hot pockets, cereal, fast food, ice cream, spaghetti etc. I’m very picky eater and I don’t like very many greens. I feel this is a factor in my condition. Too many fatty/acidic foods.

well from what you have told me it sounds like you may have a type of Cardiac dysrhythmia, there are many types, some harmless others serious. i know you said you do not have the money to seek medical help, but it is your life at risk, and even if it is nothing seriously wrong it is better to be on the safe side.

@danipassan
I tend to feel a bit light headed everytime it happens. It sometimes feels like its out of rhythm, though this is not the case all the time.

@Anonymous
Thank you for the advice.
It is helpful in its own way. =]
Though I will say it is hard to eat breakfast in the morning since I tend to sleep ten to twelve hours straight.
