are we obsessed with tragedy?

as I look into our media, I see more popular tragedy. mostly in movies. we have moved on from spider-man, to the Dark Knight and the watchmen- these heroes are leading more tragic lives. even in gaming, the number 1 game im anticipating is Splinter Cell: conviction- where our protagonist has gone from NSA super ninja, to running from the feds, looking for his daughters killer.

is it just me, or are we enjoying tragedy?

its not just you i believe that people enjoy tradgedy not because they get a kick out of it (well im sure some do) but because there is so much real tradgedy going on in every day life that its nice to see it in a fictional way if that makes any sense

maybe another’s fall evokes a certain emotional response, a chemical release we need.
