immigration help: I feel like I’m fighting an uphill battle wearing roller skates. - Help.com

I feel like I’m fighting an uphill battle wearing roller skates.

My husband is Guatemalan. I am an American. His visa expired and he was sent back to his country and we got married in Costa Rica a couple months later. The immigration paperwork has been submitted but is going to take FOREVER. Being apart is killing us so I want to move to be with him. However, Guatemala is VERY POOR and the prospects of me finding a decent job are extremely low. Is there another country that will take us? I’ve looked into Canada, Austrailia, New Zealand, England, Germany… Most industrialized countries have the same immigration rules as the US. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP. Traveling back and forth to see him is wonderful when I get off the plane, but it rips my heart to shreds when I have to leave. Any advice would be appreciated.

Try Europe blue card. You don’t have to have a high education.
I found once upon a time loads, of info regarding this for another person I know. This is what I could re-find in short amount of time.

I hope this will give you both the solution to you both. I feel for you both deeply.

Thanks for the information. I truly appreciate you taking the time to respond to my post. We both have college degrees which is why it will be so hard for us to find adequate employment in Guatemala. We are mentally capable of so much more than the jobs that will be offered to us. My husband is currently working at a call center. The company he works for is terrible and he is bored out of his mind. He only stays because he has yet to find something else. So maybe the links you sent will be just what we’re looking for. I must remain optimistic! Many thanks to you, ZilverKnight!

There are many companies in Europe, who will accept people outside the eu. My company is one of them. But you require a certain skill. Just have a look at job websites in (fill in here Country here)

Do you mind telling me the name of your company and where you are located? If not, no worries! I will respect your privacy.

He has a degree in Hotel Management & Tourism (I’m not sure of the exact title of the degree) and I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. He has excellent project management skills and is amazingly organized and detail-oriented. I am a graphic designer with excellent editing skills…and I play well with others.

I just saw that you left me a shout…(I’m new to this and had no idea shouts were possible.) FYI — whatever email you sent in your shout was deleted.
