Insert your DVD to your computer, download a DVD Ripper and then convert the dvd movie to avi file or else and save it to your computer.

To keep most of the quality, .vob or HD video format would be your best choice.

Here is a DVD Ripper for your reference.

a dvd ripper can help you copy a DVD video movie from a DVD to hard disk
it can rip DVD movies and convert to all popular video/audio formats, like AVI, MP4, 3GP, MPEG, WMV, MOV, FLV, MP3, M4A, WMA, WAV etc, by titles and chapters. It also presets many parameters for your portable player. You can easily rip DVDs and convert to your iPod, iPhone, PSP, Zune and your mobile phone.
