Symptoms of concussion

Basically, I was cycling home on Saturday night and I got hit by a car. I hit my head and f**ked up the muscles in my shoulder, so I spent most of yesterday in bed trying not to move. I’m up and at work today, but still feeling pretty woozy and I’m trying to figure out if it’s because I didn’t get much sleep last night or because I did more damage to my head than I originally thought. I know the general symptoms of concussion, but I was wondering if it’s normal to get them a couple of days later?

(I’m probably just being paranoid and suffering from lack of sleep, but I’d rather put my mind at rest)

yes, concussion can have delayed onset. anywhere from a day to up to weeks afterwards.
you should definitely get checked out.

There isn’t really a cure for it though, is there? I mean, apart from rest.

I agree with courtybubble your best off getting it checked out.
It’s best to do that and find out it’s nothing then not go and missing something big.

Go now. Explain to work what happened. I’m sure they will let you off for then next day or two while your having your head seen to.

depends on the concussion and the sympoms youre showing. if your brain just bashed against your head a bit then not so much, apart from MONITERED rest.
however, things like bruising on the brain or an anurism obviously have treatments.
if you dont want to get checked out, then at least get someone to check on you every 4-5 hours untill youre feeling completely normal again.

Well I got checked out by paramedics immediately after the accident and their main concern was a cut on my ear. I work with my dad, who obviously knows about all this, so if anything does happen he’s there. At the moment what I’m feeling is basically extreme tiredness, which given the amount of sleep I had last night is completely understandable. If it gets any worse, or if I start feeling any dizziness or nausea I’ll go and get myself checked out. Thanks for the advice guys! :)

You can’t be too careful with a head injury, the paramedics could easily miss a head injury, often there’s no sign’s right away.
You really should get checked out, don’t want to worry you but it could be serious. Go!! Go now!!

Go see a doctor and get a CT scan to be safe.

When it doubt, contact a doctor. They should be able to tell you right away if you’re fine or not.
