Hi,
I live about 27 miles north of Boston (Near Lowell, MA). We have our health but always stressed about money like all people, I suppose. After much though and trying other options we our filing bankruptcy. We used credit cards to survive (we sold our dying business for next to nothing in 2003). My husband found a job and we both went back to school, that’s when we racked up debt in order to survive with 2 children. I have yet to find a teaching job in this area but luckily found a math support position during the school year (the upside is that I found my passion and that is working with children).My husband found a better job after going to school but is always working so we can try to afford the house weve had for 15 years. The upside is that the job is a good fit for who he is. The bad is that we are trying to keep our house which is hard due to students loans and 1 income. We are behind on our mortgage and trying to modify it but our payments didn’t come down enough. I want to ask family for help to see if they want to purchase the house if we put it up for short sale but I can’t bring myself to do it, I am deeply ashamed at our situation. I try to make myself feel better by saying, we have healthy kids and we are still together but on most days wonder about our future plight.
