age help: i’m 15 and i have such big ambitions. - Help.com

i’m 15 and i have such big ambitions.

i can’t do anything at my age, its like limbo. i live in the real world but i know exactly what i want to do with my life and where i’m heading. i want to drive, and move to america. there is so much i cannot do at this age and it can get really stressful, i’m also treated like a child and that can be really annoying. i feel pathetic posting this, but i am just so fed up of being treated like a kid when all i want to do is grow up and become my own independent person.

The problem is you are focusing on things you can’t do.

Focus on things you CAN do. There are kids half your age who have raised money to have wells dug in villages in Africa. Volunteer. Get a part-time job. Get out into your community and participate… theatre, exercise, sports, who knows what.

You are a kid; maybe if you accept that you will find other willing to give you more of a chance to prove your self.

What is it that you want to do in life?

i want to be a famous singer, i’ve done some gigs for it, but people judge me on my age. i believe that’s wrong, one of the reasons i did this post.

Nah they don’t there are plenty of childhood stars around but honey, enjoy your freedom because with independance actually comes a lot more ties that you may realise and it is not easy, you have plenty of time for responsibility make the most of not having any at least for another year

truth is though, you are still a kid (at least to a 23 y.o. girl such as myself). but i’m glad that you have such big dreams. it’s really where all successful people start. go for that dream but be patient. honestly, there is no need to rush. :) and while you’re at it, always keep giving yourself reality checks. dreaming big is great. but it doesn’t hurt to have some sort of myopic view of what’s to come as well.

You will be judged on your age no matter what, and while it is wrong in some cases it makes sense that people would rather have a more experienced singer. Singing takes a lot of practicing, so you tend to get better and better as you get older if you’ve been working at it. If you want to prove that your age is not a factor in your singing abilities, then practice. If you really become an amazing singer people won’t turn you away once they hear your voice. Right now the best thing you can do is work on becoming the best you can be and get your voice out there in any way you can.

And linuxya is right, just because you can’t instantly become a famous singer doesn’t mean you can’t do anything at all. Try to branch out a little, you might be surprised at what else you will enjoy.

Last time I was at a jazz bistro they had live music. They had a 15 year old jazz saxophonist jam with the band and he was good! Find places to sing and go do it. Don’t try to be at the top right away.

That good and you will make your dreams come true. I know be treated like baby still feels very very annoying. Tell your parent you’re still there baby, but it’s time that you feel like your ready to b treated like a 15.
