Are King Arthur and King Alfred the same people?

My mum told me that King Alfred the Great is the same person as King Arthur, but I told her they arn’t. Which answer is right?

No King Alfred was called alfred the great and ruled wessex between 871 and 899
King Arthur is a little less clear. ALthough there are a lot of films about his exploits, there is very little in the history books about him. I think he is most renowned for the knights of the round table, building Camelot and his queen quinevere

They are certainly the same. A new book called “King Arthur and King Alfred” is to be published at the beginning of April. I have seen a copy and it leaves no doubt that they are one and the same and that Arthur was based on an early biography of Alfred.
