Insomnia help: Every Sunday night I lay awake in bed tossing and turning until 5 or 6am. - Help.com

Every Sunday night I lay awake in bed tossing and turning until 5 or 6am.

I don’t understand why this is happening. I have irregular sleeping habits due to my job but over the last 5 years this has never been an issue. It ONLY occurs Sunday nights and it started 4 weeks ago. I did start taking IRBESARTAN and HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE for blood pressure around that time but it seems strange it would be picky and choose Sundays. My mind won’t seem to shut down. It’s starting to drive me to the point of insanity. I’m 31 and the on the verge of tears every Sunday night. Does anyone have an idea what could be going on? I am still waiting for a doctors appointment. I havew tried warm milk, pot, masturbation, showers and nothing seems to help.

Do you work Monday to Friday? Is returning to work connected with some kind of anxiety? Do you use weekends or Sunday for major downtime to escape from your worries?

A good cure for insomnia is: when you can’t sleep, get out of bed and go sit in a chair. Read a book that requires concentration. Work hard to stay awake and concentrate. The harder you work at it, the more you sleepy you will get. Moby **** is a great book for that. Force yourself to read a chapter or two every Sunday night.

Obviously avoid stimulants. Get exercise during the day… run, swim, etc.

I work Monday to Thursday. Anxiety may be an issue but I am not sure. (Doctor’s appointment next Monday.)
