Please help me help my blind mom get her sight back !
: )
My name is (removed), and I’m posting this because my mom can’t see.
She suffered a brain aneurysm about six months ago, and had successful brain surgery.
Though she’s been recovering well, her eye sight is very bad (can only see about 5%).
She’s almost back one hundred percent from the aneurysm and brain surgery ! ( except for her eyes )
She has very little vision at all; Just a little bit of peripheral vision is all she has.
Now she can’t do most things by her self, and she’s always afraid of falling, or running into
things. This has made her brain recovery a little harder because she afraid of trying to do
anything on her own. She’s become very emotional, and easily frightened any loud or unexpected
notice scares her, and usually makes her cry. You can’t even walk in to a room she’s in
without making noise, before you enter; Because if you just walk in and say something she jumps !
Since the brain aneurysm, I’ve been back home to be with her through this hard times,
and now that it’s been eight months I think surgery is our last option.
I took her to see and Ophthalmologist, and he said she needs a Vitrectomy, because she
is suffering from Terson’s Syndrome. The Vitrectomy will clear her eyesight and she’ll be
able to see again !
Unfortunately my mom has no health insurance and she doesn’t qualify for any government assistance
(unless it’s an emergency) So we are left to pay the full cost of the surgery by our selves.
My dad paint’s houses along with handy man type of stuff, and my mom used to help him
until her accident. We don’t make a lot of money, but if there’s any way you could help us
in any way, we would be incredibly grateful !
if you know of any charitable organizations, or non-profits, or anyone looking to donate to
giver her the gift or sight. Or how I could finance her surgery with a 0% interest.
The ophthalmologist figured out some numbers for us, so we could try and figure a way to
get her the surgery. He was very kind, and didn’t charge us for the visit !
Here’s the numbers he figure out for us:
His fee for the surgery = $1,236
For the anesthesiologist = $1,044
and the Hospital cost = between $4,000 and $5,000
So he said we were looking at some where around $6,500 total cost for the surgery.
He seams to be a wonderful Dr. !
He is located at The Retina Institute of Texas and his name is (removed).
Please let me know if there’s any way you can help my mom. I’ll do anything in the world to
get her this operation. Please email me back and let me know if you have any ideas.
I truly appreciate your time and consideration !
