Erik,
Love the site…great area to find answers…I’m learning my way around…not being a computer whiz does not help…
I see lots of broken gifs. Front door for example. THere is one on this page next to the title of the post.
I just went to my profile page, and my picture is HUGE! Did something happen to the resizing?
It looks like the Primer links are all broken. I went to a recent post and clicked on the primer and got an error message.
here is one for example http://help.com/post/3048/i-recently-…
hi Samp - your picture on your profile page was imported from the old system, and pictures that were bigger than the size spec we requested show up huge on the new site. To fix it is simple - just re-upload, or re-link to your picture (it can be the same picture), and the sizing will correct itself.
Regarding primer links being broken - we actually reformatted the primer links to be split up using a table of contents. The formatting on a couple may be a bit off - which we’re still troubleshooting - but none of the primers on the post you linked to were broken from what I saw.
Regarding the broken gifs (in the links), I’m talking to Jeff our developer now.

Thanks Elizabeth - by the way - be sure to post back what you think of the redesign - good and bad. We want to make sure the site works well for our most active members like you and SoCo. We are going to continue adding enhancements (I still have your multiple avatars/pictures request on the list). Let us know.

The claiming thing is different for me, it makes it look like your question. Most I think don’t like that so much. I liked the emails when someone replys on a post in the old help.com. I like the layout of the home page and profile pages, works well and looks nice. One thing when you write a reply it doesn’t send. I push the back button on my Aol and send again. Don’t mind doing that at all just wanted you to know. It’s harder to talk with people on this one just a bit. The 24 hour thing I think takes away from that. Over all I love it and alway’s will no matter what you guys do to it. I learn fast!Question for you how can I give money to help.com to keep it up and running??? Oh yeah that brings up the question thing, when you write on the home page and ask or tell a story it doesn’t send, same thing as the reply thing, pushing back on Aol button then send again blah blah blah. I’m ok with it once again just letting you know hehe. Well Erik I hope you have a great day today and try to relax I know the new site is crazy right now but it will calm down in a week or so. Your a strong guy and your handling it well so far, so keep up the great work! See ya Elizabeth:)
hi Elizabeth –
We’re reworking the claiming stuff now. I was worried that it would be confusing, and well, there you have it. I think this next version will be better. Should launch in a couple of days.
I am concerned that alerts aren’t going out as soon as a reply is posted, but we’ve been worried about people getting too many emails as the site starts to get used more frequently. We are going with sending out 2 email digests a day (every 12 hours) which will condense everything. We’re looking at making the frequency more customizable for people who want the results immediately. Until then, if you have an RSS reader, we will be making the udpates available via RSS, and that will definitely arrive immediately. Agreed that it makes it a bit harder to talk to people, and someone else has commented that the site feels a bit less ‘personal’ now — and we’re trying to correct this.
Also, no need to send us any money. We’re not charging people to use the site for help the way it’s currently being offered, though we are looking at a few different options for generating revenue soon.
The problem with the posts on the home page not sending was a software bug that should have been fixed a few hours ago. Please let us know if you’re still seeing this.
Thank you for this great feedback!
umm, I still haven’t received the email to “validate”.
You can force one to be sent by visiting https://account.help.com/ and putting your email in there.
tried it about 20 times, didn’t work….hmmm….
replying to gatorade34 — we had a database outage earlier today that caused the site to crash. figured out what the problem was, and everything should be back to normal.

hmmm weird I already sent this and it didn’t send. Anyway’s! Why are people poking fun and name calling on post and not getting kicked off. Giving help is ok and saying things from heart is fine, but what these people are saying is not tolerated in my eyes and should be kicked out of help.com. I know for sure the people they are posting to will never come back and have hurt feelings from this. That bugs me. I have asked them to stop so I guess we will see but until then what should I do? I hate to see people get hurt by this, I guess they just feel better knowing they made fun of someone who know’s. I just hope the person doesn’t take what they have said to heart. Some on here have problems and don’t need to be called names. I really hope they don’t say anything like that to a person with suicide thoughts. If there is anything you can do please help them. I have a weird way of caring for people, I know I’m a baby sometimes but this has gone to far. Thanks Elizabeth:)
Thank you Mr. Erik, I think I finally got the verification complete. However, all of my posts have been deleted. Anyway to have them restored? If so, I’d sure appreciate it. Thanks for the help.

For several days now, I have had trouble accessing my account. I have been unable to post replies to other members, also. Since the change, this site has become less user friendly to its existing members.
My email address is not being accepted. Therefore, I’m not able to edit my original postings and post reply comments to others. Presently, I have to use a different email address in order to post anything!
I have complained and have not received adequate support. Can someone fix the trouble with my old email account address beginning with ms_…….? Also, the administrators of this site need to make support help more accessible. If someone has trouble, there’s no link or avenue for members to reach someone for HELP.
Additionally, if we’re going to help others, members need to be able to quickly reach the member they want to help. So set-up a system that will allow existing members to reach and respond directly to other existing members.
TRANSFORMED!
