got a new hardrive fitted onto my laptop because I had a virus that basically messed it all up. I’m now trying to install my games back onto it (i.e the sims) and it just wont let it… it says there is not enough space, however, I have nothing on it as its new and have not yet installed any programs on.

ive tried to do ‘disc clean-up’ and ‘disc defragmention’ but nothing, still says most of the storage space is being used up.

any ideas how to fix this?

thanks :)

It sounds like a partition issue. Can you see more that one drive? ie – C: , D:

If the D: drive is showing as a hard drive. Try installing your new programs there.

Other than the C: drive. Do you see any others showing as a hard drive? It doesn’t matter what letter.

Not good. Ok. Check the properties of the C: drive. What does it say for “Total Size” and “Free Space ?

Who set up the hard drive? It sounds like you will need to Reformat the drive and reset the Partitions. Then you will have to reinstall your operating system and go from there. Not being there, this is just what I would suggest. But try to have someone look at it for you first.

I sent it off to this place called the ‘tech guys’ and they did it. I pay £10 a month so if anything goes wrong they’ll just fix it up straightaway… :/
