You know i have no idea. Im not obsessed with my appearance but i have been annorexic twice.. its hard to come out of too.
You know at some ages people focus on various different things: when you;re at school, if your friends care about being good students, thats what you’ll focus on too. If your colleagues and friends focus on what makes them special in th eyes of other people, then you may be influenced to think this is what matters most: to look slim, dress up, act in a particular way, enjoy a specific type of music and stuff.
Girls focus on their looks because thats what is most relevant about a girl, at FIRST sight: looks (how pretty she is). Boys focus on attitude, bcs thats what matters most to them.
You can also choose if you want to think so much about how to get slim or if you want to just be who you are.

That’s the thing, MOST guys i know don’t like skinny girls, they like something to hold onto and no matter how much i tell people or try to talk them out of killing themselves by making themselves skinny, they just say, I don’t care, I want to be thin. And yeah, it might be a competition, but i’ve not really ever cared that much.
because guys generally don’t want a girl that doesn’t at least try.
Its just the way we are today. It varies, some girls are obsessed with apperances while other could care less.
And I think we all know that being skinny and pretty, guys like or pay attention to us more, compared to an ugly & fat girl.
its mostly a competition for guys and for who looks the best. i know i care about my looks a lot cause i want people to like me and not think im nasty. and i want to be attractive to guys.
Yeah, but why do guys make such a big deal, so what if a girl isn’t the most prettiest person ever, and what if they do try, but they can’t help looking like they are. It isn’t fair on them, and usually most of the people who think they’re ugly are actually really pretty, and then they get into self-harming and all that.
What’s wrong with being an ugly fat girl? Who’s anyone to judge if someone is fat or ugly. It isn’t fair, because i’m an goodish looking girl, but when i was little, i was called fat and ugly, even though I really wasn’t.
in that sense, no it isn’t fair. but it’s also something that can’t be changed.
Looks are the only thing that attract guyss at first. It’s all we have to rely on until we open are mouths. Some of my closet friends aren’t the prettiest, but have the best personality & no on even bothers talking to them. Its just a fact of life.

since beauty is the first thing people see in girls…i assume…it’s not constantly i had the same problem 4 a few months at school,but when i asked my friends not 2 talk about beauty or shape they stopped…
we’re biologically predisposed to want beauty. we have to be attractive to get a suitable mate (even guys do). it’s just different between boys and girls. for girls, it’s beauty (symmetrical face, good waist-to-hip ratio etc.). because it’s supposed to be indicative of good genes and child-bearing characteristics. for guys, it’s strength and wealth. it’s supposed to be indicative of their ability to care and provide for their young. both things point toward the proliferation of the next generation.
pretty long explanation for a simple question. i guess my point is, everyone is guilty about this at some point in time. everyone succumbs to this social and evolutionary pressure. and it’s really not a sin or a mistake on anyone’s part. :)

It’s just part of the culture of females that has gone back, plus the indication of good genes thing.
