I have a some pretty strange “fears” …
i’m probably not alone though.
I am not afraid of, but more aware of the numbers 9-11 together. (The bombings didn’t affect me personally, i am not linked with anyone that was there either.)
When i look at the clock, it comes up as 9:11 quite a lot. My birthday is 9,11,1993 (november the 9th, not september the 11th. But it sounds the same..)
This wierd coincidence kinda freaks me out.
Oh and i’ve got the standard creepy crawly fear too. The crane flies/daddy long legs things scare me senseless. I usually just run away and start crying!
Anyone else got any unusual fears?

i’m sorry to hear that.
pets are the best thing in the world - which probably makes it worse when they die :(
I’m terribly, terribly afraid of pictures of sharks, but not sharks in a tank. And I’m afraid of libraries and book stores and movie stores because of that fear. It’s pretty crazy.

I would get the thing w the numbers 9 and 11 before too. It’s like it was messages or something. Like a black omen or a doom sign that I was doing things wrong. It would make me all the more superstitious.
Back then I half believed that I could intuitively tell the right course of action for me in any given situation from “signs” or from the air. Like I was constantly trying to adjust my “cosmic” sensors for answers in many given situations like, what I should say to someone or how I should react to something.
It’s madness. But that’s just a reflection of how upset I felt in a personal level at the time, which was really, deeply upset. What I really wanted was to find an oasis in the desert I found myself in. And my superstitions were a way of me keeping my faith alive I suppose.
There’s a film called the number 23 about a guy who constantly obsesses with numbers. But numbers don’t have any inherent value. Only assigned value.

My ‘fear’ of those numbers isn’t quite as strong as yours. I don’t really have any way of explaining them. I kinda just see them as coincidences…
I might have to see that film 23, it’s got jim carrey in it right? He’s pretty awesome :)

that’s actually quite common. You’ve just got to practice. Make yourself confident, be brave!
My fears are all invisible superstitions, I’m afraid of “stealing energy” from others, and depriving someone of something they need in that level. And sometimes I feel that someone might be stealing energy from me, so I’, constantly fighting for balance.

that’s interesting.
what would be considered as ’stealing energy’ from someone?
how is that possible?

really? I’m sure it’s not true.
I have the fear of the reaction”not you again” lol
I hate earwigs….and I don’t like needles much either, but thats due to a traumatic incident in the past. Other than that I am pretty much fearless.

I wish. But somehow I believe it, because I know of my potential for overlooking people in certain situations. I used to like to “stand out” as a kid, but that’s the sort of thing that can end up upsetting others, not to mention consequences in matters of personal peace. Like I feel that when someone is arrogant and thinks they are superior to others, for example, it’s like they “take energy” without giving anything in return. There are things about my life that I don’t understand, like why do certain people not talk with me anymore, what did I do wrong etc. I fill up these unanswered spaces with superstitions. I try to explain them anyway I can, like.

do you not think that maybe you are over-analysing this ?
sometimes stuff can be overexaggerated if you dwell on it too much. Just let what actions flow, and see where it takes you. By thinking about it too much, you’ll see things that might not even be there.
Just remember that, its a grand illusion, if you think your neighbor got it made, deep inside were all the same…
I just feel I can’t afford to be doing the same mistakes I’ve done for such a long time. I try really hard to listen now adays, and to be conscious and attentive of the people around me that I care for. It feels like going against the grain for me. But if I just “go with it” I’m afraid I’ll end up somewhere I don’t want to be, and I won’t have made any progress. Like I get tons of messages telling me it’s true. But it’s a work in progress at any rate. Thanks for you insight though, it’s much appreciated.

Thoughtful people are always so poetic in the way that they speak. I can tell you’re a deep thinker.
It’s okay to be aware of your surrounding, but don’t too dragged into worrying about things. It sounds like sometimes it can get you down? What are these ‘mistakes’ you mentioned?
Don’t let the past get in your way. You can still keep control of your life, but don’t let it be a burden to you.
I just looked at my clock and it was at 21:11 (9:11)
this is really starting to annoy me!
I fear wasps, hospitals and people knowing alot about me and my personal feelings.
Maybe not weird I guess but they are what I fear.
Oh and just so you know the number thing I get too but mine is usually always 11:11 or 1:11 but it doesn’t scare me or anything just gives my a laugh.
I’m afraid of one day going to a restaurant and finding out they’re serving clown steaks. They might taste funny!
oh yea 11:11 all the time its there reminding me about what lazydaze? scarry
aeolian mode wrote:

I have looked it up before about 11:11 and all I can find is that it means you are on the right path and that someone is watching over you…
I don’t know what to think about that one, maybe there is maybe there isn’t but I just find it ammusing how I seem to pick up these numbers lol
11.11 is lucky! make a wish :)
maybe lucky, but 12:12 now thats open for debate
I’m scared of every animal apart from cats, dogs and otters.
When I go to Sea World, I won’t go NEAR the dolphins or the sting rays. My friend has a rabbit, and I couldn’t sleepover because I thought the rabbit would get out, lol. If there’s a mouse in my house, I’ll go outside for hours. When people see a butterfly, normally people look at it and like how it looks. Not me, I LEG it, lol. No idea why otters are out of the list, every time I see them in Busch Gardens I have my face pressed up against the glass like :D, lol.
Oh, and storms. I hate those.
Oh I love all the things you hate LoL
Evern storms, when a good storm happens with thunder and lightening I have my head in the window counting how far away it is wishing it would get closer :D
Lol, there’s a reason behind my storms fear.
Most people I know love storms and whilst they’re looking outside all the windows, I’m sat in some food closet in the middle of the house scared to death ahah.
That must be annoying though, what happenes if you are out at the time?
Im afraid of thunder and hail. If it starts to hail i get so scared that i just start walking in a straight line around the house in the same place. One time i did that for 1 hour and a half. Ha ha it’s kinda funny if you think about it. I think i have a pathalocigal fear of any storm :I

To the poster: I think you sound a little paranoid bout it (i use paranoid often so sue me if its over exagerating), but i don’t really even care that 9-11 happened. No one i knew died, but…it’s in the past
I always look at the clock when it’s 2:22 p.m. and often 4:44 p.m. :P It’s not too scary but it’s cool.
i have a little deal with 12:34, and more recently the number 23, that every time i see it, that time or thing that made me see it is important. jim carey feared 23 in the movie 23 and ended up going insane, so i wouldn’t continue to put too much emphasis on your life with the fear of numbers. numbers are our friend, remember.
I’m scared of Mermaids and Octopus
yea, whenever i look at the clock it seems to say 9:11, and i was starting to get freaked out too. and there was one point where every day for over a week i woke up at exactly 9:11…
Actually on the same day it was two once in a lifetime events.
in the morning
the clock striking 04:05:06 on 07/08/09.
and then after noon
the clock striking 12:34:56 on 07/08/09
Hmmmm….my bday is 12-21 and the same thing happens to me: I look at the clock all the time at 12:21
I’m TERRIFIED to the point of literally shaking, when I see or even hear cockroaches.
Errrr….I mean crickets, not cockroaches…what was I thinking???
When I see a cricket, and it jumps…I jump, too…as far away as I can and then I become paralyzed with fear. I guess I need to go get some desensitization or something, b/c it’s ‘that bad’
I love coakroaches dipped in chocolate mmmmmm! food for an aussie
i kinda have the same thing as you with the numbers… but im not afraid of it lol.
for some reason every time i wake up in the middle of the night its 1:23 am.
i always seem to look at the clock in the after noon at 1:23 as well… :S
when i was going on the bus back home i was relieved when i didnt have to go on bus # 123… but it was still there…just waiting… ahhh! lol :S
after i started noticing waking up at 1:23 i also noticed that i had 123 friends on facebook… (i went and added some random guy just to make it 124 lol)
there are a few more weird instances but yea. haha.
what im afraid of though are bees… not really weird, but im not afraid of getting stung… its just the colors and the buzzing noise they make that creep me out.
Moths freak me out royally. I don’t know what it is but I just get totally creeped out and jittery when moths are flying around me.

it’s just that 9.11 is known to be a pretty tragic thing :(

yeah, i’m definitely paranoid about it. and i think once you notice something like that, it will keep coming back by coincidence. Oh well :)
I’m not a fan of wasps/bees or insects that fly into my hair.

Nobody who I knew died either, but it changed what happened in the worldwide political scene.
Also, I have empathy and compassion for those who lost loved ones. I guess that I can relate: if I lost my children or husband in a tragic thing like that, it would be difficult to ever (if ever) “get over.” I guess once someone has lived and loved, they always have that subconscious fear that their loved ones could die.
For example: before I had kids, I never thought that I would ever be paranoid about their lives. Now, I worry about them falling off the playground equipment while they are at school. I worry about predators stalking them and stealing them from me. I worry about every conceivable multitude of ways that they can be hurt/die…and that brings me closer to the mothers who lost their children in 9-11…the empathy.
If we have no caring or empathy about a moment that will go down in history books….then maybe we have become a nation of people who are successfully desensitized.
I worked with the victims of the Oklahoma bombing. And yeah, I didn’t know any of them personally at the time of the bombing; but their memories and their stories and their emotions will stay with me forever.
On 9-11, I remember it with clarity, just like people remember JFK being shot. I was at home with my first child, who had just learned to crawl. He was crawling across the floor as we ate breakfast, and the TV was off. My husband’s friend called from Chicago to tell us what happened and we, of course, didn’t believe it. when we turned on the TV, I remember those death tolls climbing. I remember that sadness. I remember the despair. And I remember thinking, “Thank God my son is home where I know that he’s OK; thank God my husband is ok. Thank God my loved ones are all alive and I can continue to enjoy them.”
i also dont like strangers
I’m afraid of Rush and Glenn starting civil war 2 in which I will have to join the union army and fight my brother. Does that count as a strange fear I can relate to yours?
