writing help: So I just wrote a really long poem. - Help.com

So I just wrote a really long poem.

And I think it’s just vague and metaphorical enough that it would be fun to see what you all think it’s about :3 So here it is:

Light shines strong on this wondrous dawn
Sunshine embraces the verdant lawn
The sun on the rise casts the nightime away
Just a wave of his hand and the dark is at bay.

His blistering rays make the world come alive,
Though sometimes they burn, they ceaselessly strive
To spotlight the reasons to hope for this world,
To open the eyes of the near lifeless girl.

With his warmth and his light her drab world of gray
Is bathed in the colors of laughter and play.
The fields shine with Hope, the flowers glow Love
And blazing Faith graces the clear skies above.

Yet the willow trees whisper of lies and deceit
Though the sun promised color ’til death did he meet.
The trees spoke of sunset when color would drain
And the true world would show itself terribly plain.

The girl heard the whispers, she heard the trees’ cries
And she cut them all down with a glow in her eyes;
Not the soft glow of blue that those eyes used to hold
Now the glow of the sun shone within, bright and bold.

When the trees were all gone, she turned her gold gaze
To the sun she’d find perfect for all of her days.
And the sun whispered softly, “I love you, my dear,”
And her life was complete, and her purpose was clear.

She loved the good sun with all of her heart,
Until suddenly
The sun
Fell apart.

The rays died.
The gold melted.
The orb cracked.
Split in two.
In the core of the sun
A great darkness grew.

Snaking out of this space that was never a sun
Threads of absence attacked all the colors as one.
But the girl picked a flower and a small blade of grass;
And a handful of sky which she bottled to last.

“You may be a lie,” she told the not-sun,
“But these colors stand true despite how they were won.”
Hope shone from the grass, and Love from the flower,
And Faith blazed with strength in this perilous hour.

These three pulled together, kept Nothing at bay,
And the scared snakes of Nothing slid quickly away.
The absence of sun left the world cloaked in night,
But a glance to the stars left the girl with no fright.

One promise of light
Did not give what was due,
But another remained,
Everlastingly true.

Tell me what it reminds you of, what you think it means, what you think any one of the images is referring to. Tell me whatever you want about it. Criticism would be useful too. But mostly I want to see what people see in this poem.
