Have you ever had something that you loved dearly, pass away in your arms?

My wonderful Spunky, my dog of 11 years, died on August 22 at 2:58am. She died in my arms. She has been ill lately and spent most of last week at the Vet’s office, but we could not save her.

She was the most wonderful animal of my life. Spunky was a stray. Spunky was part border collie and something else. Will really miss her.

Thank you Tricky! Well, my refuge, is knowing that she is not suffering anymore. Also, had her for 11 years and so many good memories. Dr. Mac think she was probably 13 years old or more. She had a great life. Spunky was treated like the Queen she was…thank you again.

When I read this question I immediately thought of Poppy. Poppy was an adorable peace loving cat who I still miss along with Mr Parsley, Moggie Poos and Scodie.

Be happy that you had such a lovely animal to share part of your life with.

Hello friend,

I’ve never had anything die in my arms, and I’ve experienced very little death in my own life. But I HAVE had many close friends and family members suffer loses as painful as yours must be. They only thing I was ever able to give those close to me, in tems of a helpful perspective, was this:

If you look at the life of your beloved animal, and you think of what your life would have been without them, how many different scenarios would play out? How often were they the only one who would listen to you, or be there for you? How different would you, and they, have been had you not been in each others’ lives?

Life is this huge ocean of “stuff” that moves around endlessly. We are all just rocks in the water; we come into it, and make a splash, and then we are gone. But if you look at the surface, you’ll see that everything leaves ripples. They bounce off of everything they touch, affecting the water to greater or lesser degrees, and changing the pattern in ways that could never have been without their impact.

The ripples of your beloved pet’s life will last long after you forget the smell of her coat or the sound of her bark. In one way or another, she will always be with you, and to some extent, the lives of the people with whom you both interacted. That is the definition of true immortality - that is living forever. Your pet is not gone, just changing your life in different ways.

I hope this helps.

Marigold was my first puppy. My aunt gave her to me as a gift for my 13th bday. Not long after that, she died before my eyes. She was hit by a virus.

We buried her on an empty lot next to my aunt’s dogs that also passed away. I never visited her grave for the next 6 months or so. It was too hard to bear.

When i came back at last to visit her, there were Marigolds everywhere the spot where she was.

When i see Marigolds, i remember not the pain but the happy memories she gave me.

This is bringing tears to my eyes now.

I’m sure Spunky is with Marigold. Somewhere.

Thats so sad, Im so sorry for you :( She was beautiful! She seems like such a loving dog in her picture…Just know she isnt in pain anymore and is running around chaseing birds in doggie heaven, where jerky grows in fields and there are waterfalls of fish that taste like stake and where the only stop playing to sleep on their kind size beds.

XD

Thank you my friends for the kind words. She is probably having fun in Heaven today and not suffering anymore. Every morning when I walk back to my office behind my house, where she is buried, always tell her good morning and have a good day up there Spunky..loll..just a sentimental kind of guy..really miss her so bad.

So sorry about your loss SoulSurviver and Spazzy…know how you guys feel.

Thank you Joy and you would be correct my friend. Spunky was God’s gift and he took her home.
