polynomials and monomials

i missed a week of math tutoring and i need to know how to do this by the time school starts and the eighth grade accelerated math teacher asks about things like this.
what do they mean by
name each polynomial by degree and number of terms
____________________________________________________example: -5x^3+8x

I always sucked at Maths, which is why I’ve given it up at college. XD So, I can only suggest you google it, that’s what I used to do for homework.
