Why are scholarships so **** difficult?
! About half of them I’ve examined (for students in my state going for college) are either for indians only, mexicans only, people with disabilities only, people who have a town sheriff as a father, etc. Anybody know a REALLY good site to help me get my jump start on paying for college?

No i don’t know a really good sight but what have you done. Have you excelled in any sports? You get scholarships easily if you play sports and do well with your grades. I bet you already know that. I can look up a sight for you if you wan’t.

Well, i’m typically either on low honor role at my school (or .02 points from making it) so i’m pretty decent with my grades. You don’t have to look up a site if you don’t wanna, i’m just gonna get my parents and set aside a couple hours to get this stuff figured out.

Alright. I’m going to try for a scholarship in track or football.
I myself am not a sports person so that rules me out for that. I’m followin’ in the musical arts to some degree but UNL (im in nebraska) provides quite a few scholarships I am eligible for.
Scholarships are people giving money to whoever they choose…if businesses give money to minorites or people with disabilities it’s good for business. If the sherrif’s office is giving out money, they’re gonna want to give it to someone someway related to what they’re doing. It’s not fair, but you really have to be a special person to get a lot of scholarships.
If you are white, have average grades, and haven’t done community service since you could walk, you’d better do a darn good essay!
I used scholarships.com because they have millions of scholarships and will rule out the ones that definitely don’t apply to you so you don’t spend hours looking at ones that only go towards a different race and stuff like that. They also send you emails when deadlines are approaching!

Yeah just to me i’d be easier. Well if you can’t move out of nebraska to another state within your whole years of high school than after you graduate than you need to go to a differnt out of state college. No offense but Nebraska is a sucky state to live in. GO COLORADO WOOOT!

Haha noob. Colorado doesn’t have all mountains. I live beside the foothills in a city so i don’t have to “moutain drive” everywhere. But i used to untill i moved so i guess your right. But still i don’t like nebraska. They have an o.k university but the landscape and the redneck yellowbellies kinda scare me. I heard that your not a redneck and you talk nothing like one so no offense to you.
Haha, no offense taken sideflip. We only have rednecks primarily in the small towns. Go to Lincoln or Omaha and you can get away from them to normal people :D…..yellowbellies…doesn’t that mean cowards? lol. I’ve been to colorado a few times and it is a pretty nice place, but being in the mountainous area sucks :S

No it’s not too bad. It depends which place you were at :D Go to SW and it’s really nice as well as NNW Colorado.
You should also try filling out the FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid), which is what you have to do first before you can qualify for any federal aid. After you’ve filled out the FAFSA you’ll get a number called an EFC, which stands for Expected Family Contribution. The government will be able to help you pay for most, but probably not all, of the difference between the EFC, or the amount that the government says your family can afford to pay, and the actual costs of tuition at the school that you would like to attend. It might not be that useful if you already have lots of scholarships because the government counts the scholarships toward the part they are paying for, unfortunately, but it’s definitely worth checking out if your parents are worried about how they’re going to pay off your college bills. You can fill it out online, but I would suggest saving it after you filled out each page because otherwise their website will mess it up and then you’ll have to start over from the beginning and it’s a pain in the butt!

You’re welcome! The answer to your question, however, is no. I’m such a procrastinator I didn’t even look at scholarships til the last quarter of senior year, and never applied for any at all! lol
No worries, though…I made enough money to pay by myself for my community college, with a nice extra pell grant that the government gives me!!Life’s gooood ^_^
