What would make a person not be able to speak?

I mean, physically unable, not just not want to.

Extreme Traumatic Events Shock?
Is that what it says on the tin?
Literally something so bad happening that a person can’t talk anymore?

I don’t suppose you know of any sites where I might get more information?
I’ve searched google and that but it’s tricky to sift through and get stuff that’s actually relevent :/

My friend is getting mixed up with this guy.. The whole thing’s a bit dodgy and he was giving her this whole sob story about his sister not be able to speak since like, last year, but he couldn’t really back it up.
I know that sounds really bad, but if you knew this kid you’d think he was suspicious too.

It is good of you to look out for her. If you think something is up, she could always ask to meet the sister. That would settle that. Good luck and best wishes :)
