From what I understand of it, It was done by a Mod gone mad. On some sort of banning streak. I could be wrong, just what I heard :)

At the moment, from what I’ve gathered, the leading theory is that the chat link was removed because the troll infestation and rampaging mod issue was an embarrassment to help.com and thus CBS since they own the site. As far as I’m aware there hasn’t been any kind of official explanation.

Probably wasn’t CBS themselves, just some site admin. I don’t think CBS pays any attention to this site…
