How do you make guitar solos?

I know it something to do with scales and things like that, my guitar teacher tried to explain it to me but it just went over my head, Can anybody explain it?

Yes, I can …. first know what key your song is.. If it is in the key of A, then you play your standard pentatonic scale in the key of A…. A pentatonic scale is a scale with only 5 notes… Within these 5 notes are what musicians call licks.. Licks are nice sounding notes within the scale…You can make up your own licks or copy other musicians licks… I wish I could go more in depth with you.. I am a music instructor and there is sooo much more.. Shout me if you want a full lesson, I would be happy to teach you.. Rob

Memorize other guitar solos that you admire and work from there.
