ok i need some help from someone who knows cars..

so i found this car for sale in my area… its a mercedes benz 500 SL and its a 1980-1989 i cant figure out which exact one it is yet.. i REALLY like the car and i really want it.. but as you know… with the economy how it is i cant afford to pay an insane amount for it… now the price the person wants to sell it for is 11,995… and i think thats total crap… its not a new model car… and i looked at the car and its got dings on the lower bumber and things.. i mean not horrible but it has signs of wear… and it only seats 4 people and its a two door.. i think this is an insanely high price for this car.. i like it a lot tho and i think its a nice lookin car but not worth 12 grand… i want to offer him 3500 at the most lol… i mean im not paying 12 grand period… i can take that and go buy a BRAND NEW car with 12 grand… so tell me if im looking at the wrong car… or what i should offer him and if my offer is totally rediculous.. thanks

point out all the flaws. Offer a lower, yet resonable price. If they still dont go for it, threaten to walk. If they still refuse your offer, walk. Thats a pretty ridiculous price for a car that is banged up like that, even if it is some “collecters car.” It would have been worth more if they would have taken care of it.

well you need to get a kelly blue book offer thats your best bet…go to KBB.com and its like find value of car or something and type in the info and they should give you a accurate price. if its lower that what he/she is asking then tell em you wont pay more than the kbb.

Say what you are looking at probably cost 50 grand or more ne its a German built car. Thats why you like it it does have class. However you need to consider the cost of any repairs on that car will be high and not just any regular mechanic can fix it. good luck OK.

look at KBB’s website. You can look for the NADA price to but not sure if their site still works.
