In your opinion: what is the difference between ‘caring’ about someone and ‘loving’ someone?

Is caring a lot about someone ever a precursor to loving someone?

You can care for alot of people but only be in love with one person.
You can care as in feel for other people and then love other people which means you hold them closer and then to be in love which I class as one person.

Well honestly to me caring and loving are both supplements to one another.
I cannot care for a person without loving them in a platonic way or otherwise.
What I feel towards any less familiar people is probably empathy and an ability to relate.

I think loving someone has more to do with trust than caring does.
