think “computer telephone number” and you will be on the right track

its a bit more complex than that - but if you want the details, go to google!

so if you had an email address and you sent an email, would the ip address be somewhere on the email? and would it be your ip, or the email companys ip (like googlemail for example)

A IP address is contained in the email, that is definate - however i’m not 100% sure whose!

I do know, that for web based email (googlemail/hotmail) the IP is is google/hotmails one - and thats fairly consistant for all of them

as for non-web based, i /think/ the IP is whoever hosts your email - so say you have a btinternet suffix, then it will be BT interenets IP - but don’t quote me on that…

The only time /your/ IP is there is if you host your own email server (again, don’t quote me!)

so, just to be clear, if someone sent me an email, thier ip would not be included, even in page source, properties etc, it would be nowhere to be found?

you will be able to find A ip in properties, but i am not sure whose it would be - personally, i would say it would be the suffix’s (Hotmail/btinternet etc) - but remember- i haven’t gone far enough into that side of things to be sure
