should i stop buying gundam model kits?

i have 6 on my shelf. it’s a fun hobby i took up only a few months ago, but thought about it at least 9 years ago.

i often have a couple of friends to large groups of friends at my house on occasion. building these things makes me anti-social, as i tend to focus on the model (which i try to complete in a matter of hours) while my friends are around too.

however, sometimes there will be days where everyone is busy or something. and i love building the models.

i now have some extra money lying around. what do you think? maybe buy a few models or not? i’m indecisive.

actually if you really love building them so much, then go for it… I just started collecting myself and I have 10 HG and 4 FG models but I plan to collect MG models soon…

but practically speaking, it’s much better to save your money for something more useful.

so it’s subjective really

Revenant is right.

There are far more useful things you can spend the money on. And the hobby really IS expensive, esp if you build them to look the best they can through paint. You can learn painting techniques and you can become creative with the paint schemes you think of although in the end, it still is a ver yexpensive hobby.

When I buy a kit, I turn it into a project, to last me a good while so I can save up money between kits. Also, when I buy a kit ( im in Canada, kits that are like 5000 yen or 4000 yen are like 70$ here if I buy them through local hobby stores ) I tend to make trade offs. For example, if I buy a kit, I wont buy a new game that I want for a month or two. It works out, sure I cant play the game, but I save money for two months and if Im lucky the game would of dropped in price.

I own 5 MG’s (Strike freedom, EBM Destiny, Wing zero custom, Freedom, Gundam MK-II ) about 2 HGUC (Unicorn Destroy mode, Hi-Nu Gundam theyre like high tier high grades. ) 2 HG’s ( Exia Repair II, and destiny ) and 2 1/100 NG’s ( 00 Raiser, and Blue Frame Second L ) I painted almost all of them. Expensive kit, but they look incredible. Just remember to balance your life out with your hobby. The hobby is fun, but theres much more in life. Keep the hobby as something to do on a rainy day, or use it if you want a break from your friends and IRL. You can learn alot of from hobbies, gunpla is one of those hobbies.
