How old do you have to be to but Razor Blade?

Ok so I know what you’re thinking but I swear I don’t cut!
My dad (technically grandpa) loves to build things and uses razor blades (one edged razor blades) to cut through some of the thinner material but he had surgery on his prostate a few days ago ( he had cancer but it’s gone now!!!) so he can’t drive yet I can walk to the store because it’s not that far but I am only 13 so I don’t know if they will let me buy them please help I’m really scared that if i go to try and buy them i will get in trouble :( I don’t know what to do!!!

I think they’ll let you…don’t know why they wouldn’t…you could get your dad to call the store(or mom if you don’t want him to know your doing it for him)and tell them that you are going to be coming to buy one…it might work.

Just go to the hardware store and purchase scraper blades or utility knife blades. If there isn’t one close by just tell the clerk what you’ve told us. I’m sure they will be understanding in your situation. Or you could get your grandpa to call the store and let them know you are coming. Don’t be afraid to tell your grandpa that you are nervous about going there as it might raise some concern in the store if you show signs that you nervous/scared to get something like that.

Knives
Offensive Weapons Act 1996

It is an offence for a person to sell the following to a person under the age of 18 -

* any knife, knife blade or razor blade
* any axe
* any other article which has a blade or which is sharply pointed and which is made or adapted for use for causing injury to the person

Whether a particular article is a knife is a question of fact, but using a wider definition this legislation prohibits such sales of e.g. sheath knives; kitchen knives; craft knives and carpet knives to persons under the age of 18.

This legislation does not apply to folding pocket knives if the cutting edge of the blade is less than 3 inches or 7.62cm. Nor does it apply to replacement cartridges for safety razors, where less than 2mm of the blade is exposed.

The maximum penalty on summary conviction is 6 months imprisonment or a fine of £5,000 or both.

you wont get in trouble at all, just when you get to the store ask them if they can sell to you and explain why, the worst they can do is say no
