I’d like to join the track team in the spring.

But I’m horridly out of shape. and im afraid ill start training and by the time spring comes I’ll still not be as good as the other kids. Is it strange for me to want to start a new sport my junior year? Should I even try? Should I talk to the coach now and see if he can help( the coach kinda frightens me)? Yaddayadaa any other advice?

you have to do endurance training. just jog every day with you heart rate about 60 to 80 % of the hardest it can beat( as ive heart) and that will strengthen it over time as you slowly add more and more time in minimal amounts to how much you do.

Im working on getting myself in shape too so i would like ot know myself because i can only jog for like 16 minutes slowly and i almost die xD

uummmm you really should talk to someone who knows what they are talking about. I think your better off asking someone who was on track instead of the coach if your afraid of talking to him. You have to be careful to keep hydrated and eat properly and strech good or else you will get injured

OMG! I’m gonna try out cross country too this year, and I’m a junior as well. It’s not stupid to try something new, and I think you should just do your best and so what if you’re not as good as the other kids? As long as you’re doing the best you can, that’s really all that matters :)
Go for it!
