How can you tell if you have depression?

Don’t list the usual symptoms, I’ve heard them all and was still uncertain.

I’d just like to know if there are definite signs of the condition that couldn’t be related to anything else.

If anyone here is or has been depressed then I’d like to know how you know you are depressed, any and all details your willing to give are appreciated.

You should consider seeing a doctor, find a good one and they can tell you for sure.

never been diagnosed but sometimes I just will sleep for 8 hours and feel like I have nothing better to do than just go back to sleep. Then 15 hours of sleeping later I get up unmotivated. doesn’t happen a whole lot. Annoying though.

That’s hypersomnia, it’s a symptom of depression but it could also stand alone or be part of something else, that’s why I was uncertain about the symptoms.
I tend to get insomnia, takes me an hour to sleep then I wake at weird hours throughout the night.

Well, if youre showing a lot of the symptoms that correspond to depression, chances are youre depressed innit. they didnt just make those symptoms up, they are real, experianced by the majority of people who have depressions, things.
however, you are the only one who can possibly know if you are depressed.
look back on how you are normally, and if how you are now or during those times is markedly different, then you may want to see a doctor.
