I’d give college a little more time, my rule of thumb is to give it a month and after that leave it. I would stick with it if you can. Two years may sound long but think of all the doors it will open. It will allow you to get a job that you enjoy for the rest of your life. But like I said, after a month and you really feel you won’t be able to cope then put it off and do something else.

if you can study, perhaps, you can do it online? some unis let people study via online material/articles or they use skype for pre-arranged times, or things like msn. anyway, i suggest that you study while you’re still young and green, and absorb all that you can, no matter what age you’re at right now. because as time goes by, you’ll find yourself a little too lazy to go back and hit the books again. it’ll be harder to motivate yourself. i speak from experience.

oh.. i see. but you’re enrolled to the course you hated? but like the subject? what is it about? from “something i thought i wanted to do” gives hint that this may be a first instinct. Keep with it. finish what you started; because you’ll never know when you’ll have a change of heart and decide in the future to do something else that may require this qualification.
If it’s just beginning and you really decide to make that flip, then try out some ornithology classes in cornell or there’s also in england sunderland uni. by the way always try to differentiate hobby and what you really want as a career. bec you don’t want to risk “burning out” during early stages of your lifetime.
