Stroke victim needs legal advise please?

My wife had a stroke in April ‘08. She survived and was able to move, talk, eat, and fully understand what was going on. May ’08; in a facility to help her recuperate and receive rehabilitation, she became septic from a PICC line that was not properly cared for. Around June ’08; in another facility, she acquired a DVT due to lying on a cooling mat that was unmonitored because she had a fever. Around July ’08; in yet another facility, I found hair and dust under the PICC line dressing. Aug ’08; in another facility, she was given Heparin as a PICC line flush, should have been saline; the heparin stopped her heart and liver function and put her on a ventilator. In that same facility that gave her heparin, she was not on a ventilator when she came to this facility and they do not seem to be doing anything to get her off the vent or help her regain muscle strength. They have not attempted rehabilitation and very minimal weaning from ventilator and they seem perfectly fine in letting her lay there and deteriorate.

My wife still has the potential for a positive future, provided she gets proper health care. DO I HAVE ANY LEGAL OPTIONS THAT MAY ASSIST HER PROGRESS AND GET THE MEDICAL COMMUNITY TO HELP? It is my opinion, that had the sepsis and the heparin situation not occurred, she would have been home as much as 9 months ago and possibly back at work by now.

Where can I get legal assistance in Arizona?

I have gone through the entire lawyer section for malpractice in my local phonebook and every office indicates that I do have a potential legal case but are unwilling to accept without large retainer fees up front with no promise that they would be able to do anything or facilitate change.

I have checked with the Arizona State Bar Associaton for legal assistance and they even require a fee to refer, and ther is no guarantee that an attorney will assist.

That was an overly simple suggestion to a complex situation. I guess after everything I have gone through, I shoud not have expected anything more.

I’d like to talk to that attorney that does not require a retainer and see if they don’t change their tone. I thought much the same as your suggestion until I actually started calling and talking to the attorneys that advertise “No Retainer” or “no fees up front” and found out what it is really like.

I did find one attorney in another state which I have signed with and did not require a retainer, but their specifically pursuing the manufacture and distributor of a particular medicine.
