life help: What should I do? - Help.com

What should I do?

Since I was a kid the only things that interested me, was what my parents wanted me to do. Because of them, I wanted to be a veterinarian, a doctor, and now, they have me enrolled into the military to be an Air Logistics Officer, and I hate it. I hated thinking about damaged animals brought to me to be fixed, I hate being in hospitals and I have NEVER wanted to be in the military! I HATE IT! For the past few years I, brought up on my own, have decided that the only thing I love doing, is baking. Can you imagine? Baking pies instead of sewing up lacerations? But , I love it. It’s fun, and it’s always different and you can suck so bad sometimes, but there’s always more supplies, just make another one! And my parents? Dad thinks that if I try hard enough I can do it, but wants me in the military. Mom? She HATES the idea. She says I’m a terrible cook and would never succeed as a baker. This coming from the woman who thinks I could patch up a wound! But what the hell am I supposed to do?! I have no money, I’m enrolled in a military program to pass me through college, AND I’M MAJORING IN CLASSIC HISTORY!!! WHAT THE HELL!! I don’t want this. I want to open a bakery and call it Lemonade for Christ’s sakes. What should I do?

If you’re already enrolled in the military finish that up because well, you’re kind of screwed until then. However, most colleges will help you out because you were in the military so take something from it. :) You have to do what makes YOU happy because you will be the one to live the rest of YOUR life. Your parents won’t be around forever and do you want to be 40 years old one day doing something you hate to make them proud? NO, who does? So my best advice, finish it up and do what you want. They’ll eventually come around, they just want what’s best for you unfortunately…heh heh. I understand your love for baking, I bake all of the time…however I also want to be a veterinarian for wildlife…lol go figure! Good luck Hun!
