Why do you think so many different religions exist

that claim a belief in the bible while having conflicting views about what it says.

Have you read it? The bible is the most bizarrely self-contradicting book you can find out there… probably because it was written by dozens of different people in different time periods based on conflicting stories passed down orally for generations.

Actually I have read it. You say it’s contradictary. Could you give me an example or is that just something you’ve been told. Many men did write the bible and yet it is harmonious throughout.

people find different meanings in every piece of literature. to have belief in the bible literally means that they have belief in what THEY think it means. no one today was around when the bible was written, so we can’t exactly ask the author(s?) what they meant when they said something. also linuxya has a wonderful point (seriously, good job on that one). everything on this earth can be seen from a million different perspectives, the bible’s not any different.

don’t know how legitimate this site is (i just googled contradictions found in the bible) and i’ve never really read the bible but you may find it interesting

I think because different religions have their way of interpreting it. And yes it’s amazing how harmonious it is all the way through. It still shows different peoples opinions and ways to look at things but yet it all “goes” together.
