Help!

I got a letter in the mail from T-Mobile. It has my address and last name but someone ELSE’S FIRST! It was a letter regarding a rejection due to bad credit, flagged credit (high risk) and so on. I am worried because everything minus the first name is correct. I have no idea what is going on and upon calling the number on the letter, I was told they would look into it. Should I be concerned?!

Yes, you should be concerned because that information might appear on your credit report. The best thing to do is to get complete details from T-Mobile to make sure that person isn’t you, if you didn’t apply for it.

Then, check all your credit reports to make sure it doesn’t appear on them. It’s possible that somebody may have used your identity to apply for a T-Mobile plan. Don’t forget to check your credit report inquiries as well.

If you do find information on your report that you believe isn’t yours, you can dispute them with the credit agencies. You can find more information on disputing errors here: http://www.howtoestablishgoodcredit.c…
