Skipping almost a whole semester of bio in college?
Please read
My Biology class is a lecture of 120+ people fitting in a room and one teacher teaching to all of them. He uses a Powerpoint presentation that he puts up on a big screen. This PowerPoint is available online on his website AND I learned EVERYTHING AND MORE in much more detail + higher difficulty just last year as a senior in high school and got a 5 on the AP. My question is if it would be ok to skip a majority of those bio classes in college? In fact, the only reason I’m taking this introductory bio course is because it’s a requirement as a Biology major to take classes according to their format.
The teacher does not take attendance because it’s 120+ people to keep track of so he wouldn’t notice me missing. I just cover everything by reading the book in my room. The only thing to come into class for is to use an iClicker to answer some questions displayed on the board. (for bonus points, if you don’t get them, there is no disadvantage). The only thing is that the iClicker tracks who answered what, so it’s somewhat of a way to track attendance. I was thinking of paying a good friend of mine here $20 to take my clicker with him and answer the questions so I look like I’m there.
AND the only thing the teacher mentioned about attendance in his syllabus is to show up for the tests. That’s it. I went to class before some day and I was falling asleep, just like in AP Biology last year.
So what do you say? If I can cover the material myself which is already familar to me to begin with, and I pay a friend to bring the clicker every class to seem like I’m there, what’s the big deal? I already missed one class with no repercussions. So will there be a problem if I only show up for the tests (which are biweekly)?
Or will he notice me missing?
