What am i supposed to do?

The person i consider my best friend is the person I loathe the most. He always trys to prove he’s better than me. He’s always there when i need him, but still. When i left home for a while all my friends from home are now better friends with him and dont even talk to me anymore. What do i do? Do i get mad at him? Ive know him since i was a child.
