so ever since i can remember i get REALLY bad migraines, it runs in my family.

they get so bad that i get temporary blindness in one eye, no specific eye, half of my body goes numb, and i can’t speak clearly. i’m only 20 years old, average health, not overweight, and i have a 1 year old son. ever since my son turned about 6 months everytime, literally i get very light headed and i have to hold onto something to prevent passing out. no matter how slow i get up, how many deep breaths i take before geting up i can’t seem to avoid being light headed. opinions? oh also i have gotten a CT scan when i was 16 and there was nothing, they wanted to do a spinal tap but, i said no.

it sounds like you might have the same thing as me, i have a condition called basilar migraine, google it and you will see your headaches and faint spells and numbness nare part of the symptoms.
i’m 16 and have had this condition all my life, although i only got diagnosed when i was 10, and my symptoms cover just abut everything from vertigo to temporary blindness :/ but dont worry everyone has different symptoms for this.

go to your gp and tell him about your problems to get it fully diagnosed
you might get reffered on to a neurologist and be put on a course of medication to stop the problems the migraine causes :)

good luck :)

if it runs in the family it cant be a brain tumor.
my mum had the migraine before me etc..
i had loads of tests - blood tests, reaction tests, even an epg to check that it wasnt my heart that was the problem.
they cant force you to have a cat scan, spinal tap or ct scans against your will. so surely you could talk to your gp about it all and suggest that it could be a basilar migraine as your symptoms match and it would be cheaper for the health survace if it was :P

your light headedness might be caused by low blood pressure cause that was one of my tests,
- take blood pressure when lying down
- take blood pressure standing up
that was the funniest, cause my blood pressure just plummeted, the nurses face was a picture ;L

oh…i know it couldn’t be a tumor…they already checked for it, unless it was in that like 2% that they couldn’t see.
small migraines run in my family…no one has ever had them like me, never went numb etc. my mom started thinking i might’ve been have a small seizure. which i doubt it was.
but i will for sure ask my doctor about Basilar migrains.
oh i don’t have low blood pressure, i had super high blood pressure when i was pregnant, but other than that my pressure has always been average.

i just thought of something - takes me a while doesn’t it :P

Its usually made worse by traditional medicines for headaches - paracetamol etc, because of the caffeine in them,

Sounds like my life story. Scans, blood tests all over the place. It’s horrible! Really sleep is the only way out. If you can get to sleep with the pain. Do you get the after-headache for a couple days later. Absolutely awful. There are drugs you can take for it. I got prescribed from my doctor a while back. But haven’t gotten to use them yet so don’t know if they work. Though my sister did use them and said they were useless. Everyone in my family suffers bar one sibling and my mother. Also my Dad did have a brain tumour. So maybe that’s why they’re so careful with migraine sufferers. The possibility of brain tumour.
They thought when I was young that it was either a mini-stroke or brain tumour. Turned out to just be sever migraines.
All I can say is, I’ve heard of this treatment where you can get a certain muscle in your forehead removed. It doesn’t work for everyone, so they test it out with botox first to deaden that muscle and see if it works. Might be worth looking into?
