health help: Im not sure what to do. - Help.com

Im not sure what to do.

I had a really, REALLY bad panic attack this morning and ever since i have been struggling to breathe properly. What can i do to make it feel better? It feels like everytime i take a breath someone is stomping on my chest so i cant take that deep breath like i need to so desperately.

Any help thanks!

It seems that panic attacks can’t really be controlled, they can only be calmed down when they start. You could try to train yourself to be calm when your not in public but that may not stop them from happening.

If you get them regularly, you will probably have to see a counselor to find out what is causing them and to learn how to control them. The counselor might prescribe anti-anxiety medicine, but that would simply be an aid and would not be a cure.

When the attacks occur, or afterward, try deep breathing. It isn’t a cure, but it can help:

I use to suffer them. It seems the more u fear them the greater the panic.
Stop and find a nice calm place right now. Sit down and take some slow deep breaths, all the way in and most importantly all the way out!
When u dont exhale fully u get a carbon dioxide build up in your system, cause the shakes. Will help u hun.. just ask
